If it works, copy back the files from the desktop folder and hopefully it should now load without any issues. Once you've done this and the Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020 folder is now empty, launch the game. Please cut every folder from here and paste them into the folder you've created on your desktop. If it does load without issue now and you were trying to add custom files, please close your game down and re-add any custom files to see if the issue is now fully resolved.
